Run the Hull Identification Number (HIN) before you spend time on a physical inspection — it's a quick way to catch a stolen or lien-encumbered boat before you invest any more time in it.

Gelcoat cracks or delamination on fiberglass hull and bow
Sterndrive bellows condition — should be replaced every 3–5 years
Upholstery and any mildew under cushions
Bilge pump function and water intrusion signs
Transom integrity on older boats (flex or soft spots = bad)
New vs. Used
The used bowrider market is excellent and offers great value. Look for well-maintained boats from Chaparral, Cobalt, Bayliner, Four Winns, or Tahoe with service records.
