Run the Hull Identification Number (HIN) before you spend time on a physical inspection — it's a quick way to catch a stolen or lien-encumbered boat before you invest any more time in it.

Rivets — push on hull panels and look for flex or water weeping
Transom condition for motor mounting integrity
Aluminum corrosion, especially near drain plugs
Motor size vs. hull's maximum horsepower rating
New vs. Used
