Before You Inspect: Check the Boat's History
Run the Hull Identification Number (HIN) before you spend time on a physical inspection — it's a quick way to catch a stolen or lien-encumbered boat before you invest any more time in it.

Transom condition — bears the weight of heavy outboards
T-top welds, mounting hardware, and all attachment points
Bilge condition and any signs of water intrusion
Electronics wiring and corrosion (especially in saltwater boats)
Live well system and all pump operation
New vs. Used
Excellent used market. Look for Boston Whaler, Grady-White, Contender, Pursuit, Mako, or Robalo with service records and documented engine hours.
